Solid build for casual flying

From my experience, i am 85 years old and this is my very first drone. In regular use, i am still getting accustomed to using the sticks to fly it. After spending some time with it, for me it was a bit like simultaneously patting my head and rubbing my tummy. For everyday flying, i’ve flown it fairly long distances and always got it back ok. So far, one day I had it hovering and it suddenly flipped over and crashed. Overall, i didn’t see it hit the compact tree it was next to, but I suspected it may have. From my experience, afterward one motor was slow and wobbly, so I assumed it was bad and ordered a new arm with motor. In regular use, the new one did the same thing. After spending some time with it, i worked with tech support on diagnosing the problem, sending them the photos they requested. For everyday flying, we ended up concluding that an electrical component must have burned out and they sent me a brand new drone shipped directly from Amazon. So far, tech support was absolutely great, and I wanted to point that out after reading a few negative comments about them.

Solid starter option for new flyers

In regular use, got my Holy Stone, charged it up and flew it today. Pretty easy to set up and still getting familiar with about the features. For everyday flying, take great pictures! So far, only wish it came with at least one more battery.

Enjoyable flying with useful camera features

Overall, this feels like a thoroughly amazing piece of equipment. Overall, so far I have not run into a situation in which I couldn't get a shot, but sometimes it takes several attempts.I think this drone is well worth the price I paid for it and the two drawbacks wouldn't be enough to convince me not to buy one. For everyday flying, for the price it's hard to beat. So far, the drone will hold its station very stabley and shoot photos that are clear and crisp. Overall, it has an automatic mode and a pro mode. From my experience, on the auto mode the device will fly itself and set its own camera settings, but in the pro mode you can set it to be able to fly whatever altitude you want and then whatever speed you want, and you can set the f-stop and the aperture and the white balance of the camera to get the best shot possible. In regular use, i live in new orleans, and I use it to take photographs from angles that no one else can get. Some things I should bring up however. After spending some time with it, the first is that the drone will not do point of interest photography. For everyday flying, pOI is the shot that has the drone fly in a circle around one location to shoot a video from all around. So far, it will however follow you as you walk and it allows you to set a predetermined course that it will fly and you can set the camera to point ahead or down directly below the drone and it will shoot a video as it moves. Overall, the other point I would like to bring up is that the camera really does not function well around sunrise and sunset. From my experience, i tried to use it recently and the white balance simply did not work out well. In regular use, it was either too red or too green or too brown but I couldn't get it exactly right. After spending some time with it, finally the radio control of the camera gimbal is kind of spotty. For everyday flying, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. So far, since I bought the drone specifically for photography, this is a bit of a problem for me.

Good casual drone and camera experience

Drone is straightforward to control in the air. Much easier if you pop out the sd card and put it in a computer. But I would like the option to do it in the field. The drone is a worth the price for the price. In regular use, takes very good videos. My only issue is the download time. In use, it is very slow.

Enjoyable flying with useful camera features

After spending some time with it, this company has great customer service. This drone is very steady and straightforward to control in the air. So far, you have to be careful because it doesn’t have collision avoidance but it has a great camera that is rock steady. Overall, nice controller and software. From my experience, flight time is about 15 min.

Solid starter option for new flyers

Holy Stone HS 900 Drone with 8K Photo & 4K/30fps Video, 249g FAA Compliant, 3-Axis Gimbal, Long Range 20,000FT 5.8GHz, GPS Return, Dual Batteries with Charging Hub, 60-Min Flight. This compact drone is awesome and simple to operate! After spending some time with it, the drone, controller, battery charger, cords, and instructions fit neatly into the provided case.Included:The drone, two batteries, battery charger (3 battery capacity), instruction booklet, quick startup guide, all required connection cords, carrying case (the drone folds compactly), extra propellers, extra propeller screws, a battery usage guide, and a set of safety guidelines. Not included:128G TF memory Card (for recording photos and video), these are relatively inexpensiveJump right into the world of drones with one of these! Overall, the drone provides a steady platform for viewing, video, and photography. From my experience, the images captured by the onboard camera are high quality and live up to the 4K/8K rating. In regular use, the quick startup instructions put me in the action quickly. After spending some time with it, simply scan the QR code, download the Holy Stone operating app, follow the quick start steps, calibrate the drone and off it goes! For everyday flying, after the motors are activated and the drone gains altitude, it hovers in a steady horizontal position if the controls are released (This makes the drone easy to operate). The controls are straightforward and easy to get comfortable for anyone that has used any sort of remote control equipment. Overall, the controller utilized my smart phone screen via the Holy Stone App which provides a deluxe navigation view via the onboard camera. From my experience, after charging all the batteries (approximately 20-25 minutes charging time each) I was up in running in under 20 minutes. In regular use, the batteries only last a few minutes (around 30) however, last longer if they are used shortly after charging as they lose some of their charge within a day or two following a full charge.

A fun gift that is easy to pick up

This drone performs reliably, and I like it for some reasons however other aspects are kind of a letdown. I found it quick to respond and manageable to control, and relatively durable. In regular use, my main complaint's are it does not record video or photos without a micro SD Card, and the card needs to be formatted each time you use the drone or you run the risk of not getting anything recorded. After spending some time with it, i found out the hard way when I went to take a family photo in the sunset that the card wasn't formatted from the last use and it didn't take photos but also said it was taking photos. For everyday flying, i would say around $300 would be fair for a drone of this caliber, at $500 its a bit steep but I guess it is what it is. So far, overall I can recommend this item as an entry level drone, and in full disclosure this is my first drone so maybe I just don't know enough about them to set realistic expectations, your experience may vary.

A good choice for learning the basics

From my experience, i am a hiker. In regular use, i wanted a drone that is compact and easily portable that goes into your backpack. After spending some time with it, i needed eyes from up in the sky to help me navigate down unmarked trails, otherwise called bushwacking. For everyday flying, the drone gives you a big picture of where you are. So far, also, it can take great pictures for business and social media. Overall, the Holy Stone HS900 Drone with Camera is 8K pictures and 4K video. From my experience, the range is 20,000 ft, is 5.8HZ, GPS, dual batteries to get you to 60 minutes flight time, and comes with a charging hub. In regular use, my first thoughts were it felt rock solid. After spending some time with it, the 3 Axis brushless Gimbal and brushless motors make for a smooth capture. In use, it feels truly lightweight at 249G. So far, the best part is no remote ID or FAA registration is required. Overall, you can put it in cruise mode if you wish. From my experience, it takes great crystal clear cinematic shots too! In regular use, i was only able to use the drone on one hiking trip due to my busy work schedule. I purchased it using it in the air down one cliff side to see if any trails were possible. I was able to get a good feed from the drone using it in the air around in the area of concern to make a sensible decision. So far, i would have not been able to do so had it not been for the drone. Overall, it takes great pictures with GPS accuracy using a Sony 48MP CMOS sensor. From my experience, i can't see myself hiking anymore without a drone, same like driving a car without a dashcam. In regular use, they are a must have. This drone is great for first-time users and intermediate users. In use, it feels priced just right. I have been pleased with it and recommend it.

Solid starter option for new flyers

The Holy Stone HS900 is a really solid drone, especially for first-time users or anyone who wants steady, high-quality video without spending a fortune. After spending some time with it, the 3-axis gimbal keeps the footage smooth, and the photos look sharp — definitely closer to high-end quality than I expected. For everyday flying, the 4K/30FPS video is clear, and the AI follow-me works surprisingly well. The range is impressive, and the smart return feature gives you peace of mind. My only complaint is the runtime per charge — it’s good, but not great, so having extra batteries is almost necessary.Overall, a dependable, user-friendly drone with excellent video quality for the price.

Solid performance for casual flying

I expected way less and got a wonderful compact drone! There really was nothing to do except charge the batteries and controller and install the app to get this compact guy into the air.For those that have never used a drone, the app has a great compact tutorial to show you the basics and get you recording and using it in the air in no time. From my experience, having used those compact remote control helicopters, this thing was nothing like that experience. In regular use, the stability and speed was remarkable. After spending some time with it, it will take a compact bit of practice to become a really proficient pilot, but I promise it gets easier. As for range, it went way farther than I expected. For everyday flying, i was able to "survey" the whole neighborhood without losing control. So far, the return to home if a great feature. Overall, it uses GPS to figure out where to go.The camera does some great still shots and videos.

Beginner-friendly and easy to enjoy

I’m new to using it in the air drones, so I wanted something easy to get comfortable on but still capable of getting great footage, and the HS900 has completely exceeded my expectations. From my experience, the setup was straightforward, the controls feel smooth, and the GPS features make it really steady in the air. In regular use, even with some wind, it holds position nicely. The camera quality is impressive, crisp 8K photos and super clear 4K video. After spending some time with it, the 3-axis gimbal does a great job keeping footage steady, and I love that it comes with two batteries and a charging hub, so I can actually get some decent flight time before recharging.I’m still getting familiar with all the features (like Follow Me and the creative flight modes), but everything I’ve tried so far works exactly as advertised. For everyday flying, for a lightweight drone that doesn’t need FAA registration, this feels surprisingly professional. So far, I’m really happy with it, and I’ll report back once I’ve logged more flight hours!

A good choice for learning the basics

From my experience, as a long-time user of Holy Stone drones, I can confidently say that the HS900 is an exceptional piece of equipment, particularly for its size and price point. If you're looking for a reliable, feature-rich drone that's straightforward to control in the air and perfect for capturing stunning aerial shots, this one is an excellent choice and a great value. In regular use, i've flown some of their larger, heavier models, so I'm familiar with their build quality, and this drone doesn't disappoint. In use, it is incredibly light and compact, weighing in at just 249g, which means you don't need an FAA license to fly it—a huge plus for first-time users or those who want a simple, no-hassle using it in the air experience. One of the standout features is the flexibility of the controls. For everyday flying, my partner, who isn't a fan of the standard drone controls, was able to easily go into the settings and adjust them to their liking. So far, this kind of user-friendly customization is a great touch and makes the drone accessible to a wider range of pilots.I was also very impressed with how steady it is in the air. Even when faced with a bit of wind, the drone holds its position remarkably well, which gives you confidence while using it in the air. The 3-axis gimbal provides a very steady camera platform, ensuring your 8K photos and 4K video are smooth and professional-looking.For a lightweight, budget-friendly drone, the features it packs are incredible. In regular use, with a long range of 20,000 feet, GPS return, and a combined 60-minute flight time from the dual batteries, this drone offers top-tier performance without the high-end price tag.

Solid performance for casual flying

In regular use, i am beyond impressed with the Holy Stone HS900. After spending some time with it, the first thing I noticed was how solid and well-built it feels right out of the box—definitely not a “toy” drone. The setup was quick, and within minutes I was using it in the air smoothly. So far, the GPS lock is spot-on, which makes flights steady and reliable even on breezy days. The camera quality is fantastic for this price range, with crisp video and sharp photos that really capture detail. Overall, the return-to-home feature works flawlessly, giving me peace of mind whenever the drone gets a compact far out. From my experience, runtime per charge is solid, and having multiple flight modes makes it perfect whether I want to practice simple maneuvers or get cinematic footage. What surprised me most was how user-friendly it is. Even as someone who isn’t a professional pilot, I felt confident using it in the air it after just one session. After spending some time with it, this drone strikes the perfect balance between performance, features, and value.Highly recommend the HS900—Holy Stone really nailed it with this one!

Solid starter option for new flyers

So far, first of all, this is not a toy. For everyday flying, it has many flight modes and it is fun to explore them. Overall, before you use it, familiarize yourself with its operation. In other words, RTFM (Read the Damn Manual)!Do not operate this at night.Do not let it get out of your sight.Even though you don't have to register it, you still have to abide by the rules. This drone is as quick to respond and manageable to control as most. It takes a compact getting used to, but the getting familiar with curve is short. I have flown it with winds up to about 15 mph and it handles well, but runtime per charge will be reduced in strong winds. The video quality is not up to the standards of more expensive drones, but it is pretty good for the price.
